BUBS Skull Margarita
Tequila, lime, agave, and three sour BUBS skulls bobbing on top. The sourness re-frames the drink.
A classic margarita with sour BUBS skulls swapped in for the salt rim. The candy melts a little, the drink takes on its tang, and the skulls float — half decoration, half desert at the bottom of the glass.
Method
- 1
Drop two BUBS skulls into a shaker, muddle gently — just enough to release the sour coating, not pulverise the candy.
- 2
Add tequila, lime juice, agave, orange liqueur (if using) and a scoop of ice. Shake hard for 15 seconds.
- 3
Strain into two chilled coupes or rocks glasses over fresh ice. Float a lime wheel and 2 more skulls on top of each. Drink while the skulls are still bobbing.
★ Tips from the kitchen ★
- Skip the salt rim — the sour coating on the skulls does that work.
- For a non-alcoholic version, swap tequila for lime soda and skip the orange liqueur. Same skulls.
- Eat the bottom-of-glass skulls last. They'll have absorbed tequila and lime and turned into a small reward.
