About Chocolates

Swedish chocolate is everyday chocolate. It is not wrapped like a gift or priced like one — it is a big flat block in the kitchen drawer that gets broken a square at a time. Marabou has been the default since 1916, and the milk base is noticeably softer and milkier than most European bars.

Beyond the plain block: Kexchoklad is a wafer bar that outsells nearly everything else in Sweden, Plopp is a soft toffee-filled square, and Daim is the hard almond caramel that ended up in ice cream worldwide.

Fazer's Geisha and Dumle sit here too. They are Finnish rather than Swedish, and they have been in Swedish Christmas bowls for decades regardless.
