When BUBS Sour Skulls went round the world on TikTok, what people were reacting to was not just the sourness but the build underneath it: a dusting of citric acid over a chewy fruit layer, sitting on a soft foam base. Three textures, one bite. Most sour candy outside Sweden is one texture with acid on top.
Swedes rate sourness on a scale, and the word for the top of it is surt — the kind that makes your jaw click on the first second and then settles into fruit. That is what most of this shelf is aiming at. If you are starting out, the sour-sugar coated gummies are gentler than the foam-based skulls.
